What is banco garantia?

Banco Garantia was a Brazilian investment bank and financial services company that was founded in 1971 by Jorge Paulo Lemann, Marcel Telles, and Carlos Alberto Sicupira. The bank was known for its focus on mergers and acquisitions, asset management, and investment banking services. It played an important role in the growth of the Brazilian economy during the 1990s and was one of the largest investment banks in Latin America.

In 1998, Banco Garantia was acquired by Credit Suisse, one of the largest banks in Switzerland. After the acquisition, the name of the bank was changed to Credit Suisse First Boston Brazil. The acquisition was seen as a way for Credit Suisse to expand its reach in Latin America and to gain access to Banco Garantia's expertise in investment banking.

Today, Banco Garantia is still remembered as one of the most successful investment banks in Brazil's history, and its founders are regarded as some of the country's most successful entrepreneurs. Lemann, Telles, and Sicupira went on to found other successful companies, including 3G Capital, which has significant stakes in companies such as Anheuser-Busch InBev, Kraft Heinz, and Burger King.
